A positive culture is essential to creating a successful business. A company’s culture must foster integrity, transparency, collaboration, respect, effective communication, learning, responsiveness and constructive challenging of ideas.
Direct and regular dialogue among our team promotes honest conversations with contributions and opinions from each team member, on everything from investment attributes to internal processes. We promote and support feedback from every member of our team and ensure the team is provided the tools, forum and authority to successfully share ideas and concerns. We are thoughtful and transparent in our decision-making, and take the time to share our reasons, actions and results. Open and honest dialogue is imperative to the early identification of risk or concerns, both during investment diligence and the hiring process.
Our emphasis on culture begins during the interview process. We are extremely transparent with candidates about the expectations and compensation for the position, and encourage them to spend time with the team to candidly ask any questions or address any possible concerns.
We believe a successful employee relationship starts when expectations meet reality. Integrity, honesty and humility are essential traits we look for in candidates. Without these basic characteristics, even the smartest, most successful candidate will not fit into our culture.
Creating a positive culture is of absolute importance to us. We firmly believe adhering to our cultural ethos fosters a happy and productive team that promotes superior decision making and true ownership and respect for both investments and the firm. When an organization is invested in the culture of its business, the results have a dramatically higher probability of success. A culture built and incorporated the proper way leads to better decision making on everything from hiring, deal sourcing, diligence, investment management, and firm management to the retention of key personnel. These characteristics lead to enhanced productivity and stronger returns for our investors.
